Home Study Visitation : What To Expect

Hello All!

I know it's been a while since we've updated, and it's really because there is not a lot of news happening just yet! We've just been working on paperwork, paperwork and more paperwork. ALL of this paperwork will get sent off sometime in July, and we will be sure to keep everyone posted on what happens next!

When researching about home studies, I could never find a blog that really talked about what to expect during the visitation part of the home study.

To give you an idea, here are a few things that were on our inspection form:
  • All medications, including over the counter drugs must be In a child resistant container and stored in a locked cabinet
  • At least 2 unblocked exits from the home
  • Safe outdoor play area available
  • Firearms are stored in locked cabinets or locked areas not accessible to children; ammunition stored in a separate area
  • Fire drill practiced at least every 3 months

And the list goes on and on! As nervous as I was, the visit was not bad at all! Our adoption specialist walked throughout the house looking over everything, and that was it! She said everything was perfect!  So if you ever go through this, don't stress for no reason like I did! EXPECT and know that God has it all planned out, and everything will go smoothly!

Thank you to everyone who is still praying, supporting, sharing, and donating! We appreciate you all more than you know!

This photo was taken right after the visitation (probably the cleanest our house will ever be so I wanted proof!) :)

Some say he’s half man half fish, others say he’s more of a seventy/thirty split. Either way he’s a fishy bastard.

  2. Thank you for this blog post! I stumbled across it on Pinterest as I'm frantically feeling like I'm forgetting something (or everything!) and searching for been-there-done-that articles to read as we prepare for our home visit that is to take place later this week. You really calmed my nerves - especially the "know that God has it all planned out" part - in my nervous emotional state I forget that sometimes. :) So anyway, thank you!
