Fievel

Who remembers the movie Fievel?! I've been obsessed with that movie ever since I was little (I had the huge Fievel stuffed animal and everything). Basically it's about a mouse from Russia trying to immigrate to America for freedom. He gets lost along the way, and the movie is about his journey back to his family.  I'm not sure why I am so drawn to that film, I guess it's my love for animals.

After starting the adoption process, I happened upon the song "Somewhere Out There" from the film, and I immediately started crying! Listening to the lyrics, it just has so much more meaning now:

"Somewhere out there
Beneath the pale moonlight
Someone's thinking of me
And loving me tonight

Somewhere out there
Someone's saying a prayer
That we'll find one another
In that big somewhere out there

And even though I know how very far apart we are
It helps to think we might be wishing on the same bright star
And when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby
It helps to think we're sleeping underneath the same big sky

Somewhere out there
If love can see us through
Then we'll be together
Somewhere out there
Out where dreams come true"

God shows us things even if they are little. Even if it's with a little mouse in a movie that came out in 1986. He is showing me daily to be patient, and that his timing is perfect. Until then I will cling to this song as corny as it is, and keep reminding myself that our child is somewhere out there waiting for a mom and dad. Waiting for us. We will continue to find joy in the waiting.

Some say he’s half man half fish, others say he’s more of a seventy/thirty split. Either way he’s a fishy bastard.
