snow day, God's timing, and the wait.

Waiting is hard, and up until now I've been handling it pretty well. Enter: Facebook. The most annoying thing ever created. Facebook can be depressing because all we've been seeing the last few days are pictures of children playing in the snow with their parents. It's really been making me sad that we have to wait a year (or longer) for our baby. There will probably be another big snow happen next year before we have him/her. There will be another Thanksgiving without our baby, another Christmas without them here (them?! I keep catching myself saying that!). The waiting... that's the hardest.

"How much of human life is lost in waiting?" -Ralph Waldo Emerson

When I get sad, I get in the Word. I quickly remembered that God's timing is perfect. He is giving us this year to plan and prepare. Instead of wishing away this year, we are going to embrace it! Instead of sitting inside wishing we were with our child in the snow, we are going to go out and enjoy it as a couple! I am choosing to be grateful for "the wait". We knew when we chose international adoption that there would be a wait... a long one. I guess I was not prepared for the emotional toll it would take. We live in the "here and now" and many times I catch myself thinking "I want my baby here and now!" but that's not the plan. I have to remember, God's plan is always, ALWAYS better than mine.

If you are waiting for a baby either by trying to get pregnant or adoption, I challenge you to wait with me! Know that God has this all mapped out for a reason. His journey for you is much greater than you could ever imagine. Take this time to learn and prepare for your child. Embrace this time as a married couple, grow closer to each other and the Lord. Your future baby will be glad you did!

We choose to be grateful and content with where God has us...

The wait will be worth it.
